The Mbenga Foundation believes that together we can advance the cause of humanity with appropriate knowledge. We need to improve tolerance and communication. For this reason we need to start a grassroots operation, such as providing children with basic needs in education. With the exception of the main cities, most school children share the same classes; overpopulated in one classroom. This happens sometimes from the age of 6, to the age of 18 or 19. No desks, no books, no pens or pencils and no benches to sit on.

Rates of infant, under-five and maternal mortality are staggering. One in five children dies before reaching the age of five. Mothers die in childbirth in 13 out of every 1,000 deliveries. Nearly one third of children are underweight. Malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies are responsible for nearly half of deaths among children under age five. Vaccination rates for the most common childhood diseases are approximately 65 per cent. Less than half the population has access to a safe source of clean drinking water. Less than one third has access to adequate sanitation facilities
